What is a Focal Point?
Focal point is when something in an art piece that stands out or draws attentions to your eyes when you first look at it. For example if there was a group of people wearing dull outfit and there is this person walking in something bright like a yellow outfit in a painting. Then that person in yellow would be the focal point in the painting.
Well in that lesson, Mrs Vincent wanted the whole class to concetrate on focal points in advertisment, in a magazine. Mrs Vincent first showed us how to find a focal point in a picture as well as showing some balanced picture as well. When the class had a small disscusion on focals points and balanced imagies we were told to find some in advertisments in magazines. So everyone in the class went and got themselve a magazine and went flipping through them.
These were the imagies that I had found when I was flipping through some magazines:
( Sorry there is a problem with my scanner so therefore you can't see the imagies..... sorry about that)
The class was told to tear those pages out with the pictures that we though had focal points and some balanced ones as well, and to gule those pictures into our art books.
Therefore in that lesson I learnt how to find a focal point in imagies as well as how different shapes and colours that balance a art piece.
